A sweep targeting illegal marijuana growing operations in a rural area of Santa Barbara County led to the seizure of more than 5,000 plants this week.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives along with deputies served search warrants on three locations in the Cuyama Valley this week. Investigators say the 5400 plants seized and destroyed had a street value of nearly three million dollars.

No arrests were made, but three people were seen fleeing one of the three locations as law enforcement officers approached the scene.
