Man Who Collapsed While In Custody At Santa Barbara County Jail Dies

A man who collapsed while in custody at the Santa Barbara County jail has died.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials say Jose Curiel had a medical emergency while at the jail on January 5th.  He was taken to a hospital, where he died Thursday night.

The 52 year old Santa Maria man was in the jail on domestic violence and criminal threat charges, as well as for two outstanding warrants.  There's no word on the cause of death.
