Firefighters have finished mopping up a brush fire which caused a scare in Ventura County.
The blaze was discovered at around 2 p.m. Sunday north of Lake Casitas, putting up a large column of smoke visible for miles.
Ventura County firefighters, aided by Ventura, Oxnard, U.S. Forest Service, and CalFIRE firefighters aggressively attacked the fire. With the help of air tankers and helicopters, they were able to keep the blaze to 15 acres. No structures were damaged.
The 75 firefighters had the upper hand on the blaze by 5 Sunfday night, and were in mopup mode before sunset. Crews patrolled the area overnight, but the last firefighters left the scene by midday Monday.
The fire was accidentally triggered by a vehicle.
