Firefighters Contain Series Of Small Brush Fires Burning Off Highway In Ventura County

Ventura County firefighters quickly contained six small brush fires which popped up along a highway in the eastern part of the county.

The blazes started at around one Wednesday afternoon off of Highway 118, in the Moorpark area. One of the two eastbound lanes of the 118 was closed in the Collins Road for much of the afternoon due to the firefighting activities.

The fires ranged from small spots to about an acre in size. No structures were threatened. About 80 firefighters aided by a helicopter contained the blazes by about 2:30. The cause of the fires is under investigation.

Ventura County firefighters have now contained five of the six small brush fires which had been burning along a highway in the eastern part of the county.
