Destructive Holiday Brush Fire In Santa Barbara County Now 100% Contained

Some of the destruction from the Holiday Fire

A destructive brush fire in Santa Barbara County is now fully contained.

Firefighters declared the Holiday Fire 100% contained Tuesday night. The fire destroyed 13 homes, and damaged three others. 15 barns and other outbuildings were also destroyed.

The blaze started Friday night, with strong wind making it impossible for firefighters to stop it during its first few hours. But, the wind eased early Saturday morning, and by daybreak, crews were starting to get the upper hand on the blaze. No one was seriously injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
