Borderline Gunman Was In Possession Of Improperly Prescribed Drugs, Prosecutors Say

Federal prosecutors say the man responsible for the Borderline Bar and Grill shootings may have had some drugs improperly prescribed by an Orange County doctor.

Investigators say Dzung Ahn Pham of Tustin was improperly prescribing opioids, and that some of the drugs he prescribed were responsible for at least five overdose deaths.

They aren’t saying the doctor prescribed drugs to the Thousand Oaks gunman, but someone he prescribed drugs to may have given them to the Newbury Park man.

Pham is charged with two counts of illegally distributing oxycodone.

Final autopsy results haven’t been released yet for the man who killed 12 people at the Borderline before killing himself.
