Bill By Ventura County Legislator To Protect Service Members Against Fraud Signed By Governor

The governor signed into law a bill authored by a Ventura County legislator intended to help protect members of the military against consumer fraud.

AB 3212 expands the period in which service members are protected against things like eviction, foreclosure, default judgement, and repossession.

Democratic Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin of Thousand Oaks, who authored the bill, says it is intended to close some loopholes in current laws. It also provides additional protections for service members in connection with some student loan issues.
