A Santa Barbara dentist has embarked in his own one-man foreign aid program, providing dental care to thousands of people in war-torn Afghanistan, and helping to train dental technicians. Dr. Jim Rolfe has made ten trips over the last several years to work in Afghanistan, and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own money to provide treatment.
