Some thought it was a great new way to raise money for Santa Barbara County. The county has been considering a plan for a new tax on crude oil extracted from the county. But...the idea has been set aside, at least for now, because of unanswered questions about how it would work.

An engineer invented a low cost alternative which uses resin lawnchairs, and bycyclie wheels, and will talk about it in Santa Barbara County over Memorial Day Weekend.

Channel Islands eaglets escape brush with death

Two eagle chicks were attacked by an older eagle, and knocked out of their nest. Thanks to some eaglet fans who saw it happen on the internet...

The birds were rescued, and are expected to recover.
