Ventura Fire Department Volunteer Training Orientation

Thu, Apr 03, 2008 at 9:00am

Volunteers will have the opportunity to serve throughout the county

Event Description

The Ventura County Fire Dept. is looking for people to fill the ranks of its Volunteers in Prevention program.
The volunteers assist with a variety of Community Education tasks and assist the department during major emergencies across the county.
The Community Education aspect of the program can involve teaching senior citizens fire and falls prevention lessons, assisting with a Fire Safety House for children, staffing information booths at community events and translating talks given by a Fire Inspector to Spanish speaking audiences. Volunteers are also needed to identify senior citizens in need of smoke detectors and assist with the detector installations.
On-call volunteers who can drive large trucks are needed to assist with the Logistics program, where volunteers provide support at the base camps for major fire incidents. Assistance with stocking and pulling Multiple Casualty Unit trailers during disaster and emergency situations is also needed. Positions for office support for training or administrative offices may be available on occasion.
The Ventura County Fire Department VIP program will be conducting a Volunteer Orientation. Prospective volunteers need to submit a Volunteer Application and have a background check cleared through the program prior to attending Orientation.
For more information on available opportunities, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the phone number provided.
