Event Description
The City of Ventura presents, as part of the City’s first two-day Spring Art Walk, the opportunity to take part in free, artist-led workshops to make an ocean-themed mask for the Parade of Masks finale.
Bring your own beads, sequins, cloth, cardboard and other recycled materials to make a unique mask—some materials are provided. Family, friends and all ages are welcome:
Saturday, March 29, Barranca Vista Center, 7050 E Ralston St.
Saturday, April 12, Bell Arts Factory, 432 N Ventura Ave
Wednesday, April 16, Crowne Plaza Aqua Bar, 450 E Harbor Blvd
Join the ArtWalk Parade of Masks for WAV on Sunday, April 27 at Mission Park: Don your mask and costume for contest judging at 2:30 p.m.
Performance at 3 p.m. and Awards at 3:30 p.m.
ArtWalk is expanding to a full weekend of events on both Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, including off-the-beaten-path tours, a breakfast mixer and temporary public art bicycle wheel arch. Kids and families can take part in a global arts education event in Mission Park and a “kids in the dark room” photo activity with ArtWalk featured artist Stephen Schafer. Enjoy music and larger-than-life light sculptures by Sean Sobczak at the ArtWalk After Party at Bell Arts Factory on Saturday night before hopping on the shuttle for a circuit of receptions and other happening night sites!
The Working Artists Ventura (WAV) project is poised to become an important economic development catalyst for downtown Ventura by providing 54 affordable artist housing units, 15 supportive housing units, 13 market-rate condominiums, park, gallery and theater space, and arts-related commercial space. WAV represents a national landmark that brings together the arts, environmentalism and social justice, all in a fiscally responsible package.
