Leap Day at the Santa Barbara Zoo

Tue, Mar 11, 2008 at 11:00am

Santa Barbara Zoo, 500 Ninos Dr., Santa Barbara

Event Description

The Santa Barbara Zoo invites the public to “leap into action” and join in efforts to help save the world’s amphibians through a Leap Day of engaging activities for the whole family.
Kids can make frog origami, attend frog-themed Storytimes, go on “Fabulous Frogs” docent tours about amphibian adaptations, enjoy Zoo’s theatre troupe Theatre Gone Wild, make toad homes, and play hip-hoppin’ games. It’s all to get everyone “hopped up” on amphibians.
There will be keeper talks throughout the day focusing on the Zoo’s amphibian collection – and many opportunities to get up-close to these fascinating creatures.
Plus, there’s a chance to learn more about how zoos and aquariums around the world are helping to save amphibians, and how to help. The public can sign up to be trained as Frog Watch volunteers, as part of a nationwide program, and find out the “Top 8 Ways in 2008 to Help Frogs.”
