The Emmanuel Presbyterian Church presents the Ralph Carmichael Big Band Concert.
As one of the music industry’s leading arranger-conductor, Ralph Carmichael’s career has spanned over 50 years of success - working with the biggest names in Entertainment - Ray Charles, B.B. King, Count Basie, Lena Horne, Doc Serverinsen, Ella Fitzgerald and many more... As a composer-arranger of the gospel form he revolutionized the music of the church, pioneering the contemporary Christian sound and introducing Artists such as Andrae Crouch, the Winans and Brian Duncan.
In 1994 Ralph’s Brentwood Records release Strike Up the Band won a Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year. Now we celebrate his Big Band Gospel sound, blending the matchless message of God’s love with the sounds of swing.
