Event Description

For the first time, the following six museums located in the Santa Ynez Valley will have FREE admission for all ages for the entire day. Just look for the green flag at each venue.

Buellton Historical Society History Room, 376 Avenue of Flags, Buellton

In 1949, Buellton was named “Service Town USA” in recognition of the service stations, motels and diners lining a newly widened US Highway 101 through the center of town. Find out more about Service Town and the Buell Ranch in the History Room located in Andersen’s Pea Soup Restaurant above the gift shop.

Elverhoj Museum of History & Art, 1624 Elverhoy Way, Solvang

Located in a historic handcrafted Danish-style structure, the Elverhøj Museum showcases Solvang’s rich history and celebrates the Danish-American pioneer spirit and the colorful heritage of Denmark. The Museum Gallery features changing exhibitions of regional, national and international art.

Honoring the multi-talented Danish father of the modern fairy tale, such as "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid", "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Princess and the Pea". This second story garret above the Book Loft store is filled to the rafters with copies of Andersen’s books, sketches, silhouettes and collages.

Los Alamos Historical Display, Bell (Hwy 135) & Helena Streets, Los Alamos

Los Alamos was established in 1876 as the United States celebrated its 100th anniversary. The founders John Bell and James Shaw named one of the main streets “Centennial” in honor of this event. Find out more about this western-style rural town at this newly opened historic exhibit.

Tracing Santa Ynez Valley history from the early Chumash Indians through its 20th-century ranching days. Featuring a running model train exhibit depicting the Pacific Coast Railway and early transportation history. The Carriage House has the largest selection of horse-drawn vehicles and carriages in the Western USA.

Wildling Art Museum, 2329 Jonata Street, Los Olivos

Located in the historic Keenan-Hartley House between Mattei’s Tavern and St. Marks Episcopal Church, the Wildling presents America’s wilderness in art; plus offers nature-related classes, special events and rotating exhibits throughout the year.
