Event Description
The 18th Annual Spring Spectacular is produced by students of the Exotic Animal Training and Management program at Moorpark College.
This event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the staff and student operated facility. The increasing popularity of the program through local outreach, holiday events, and guest appearances make this event a ‘must see’ for the entire family.
Admission is $10.00 for adults and only $5.00 for children and seniors. Children of the ages 2 and under are admitted at no charge.
This year’s event title “A Fairy Tale” chronicles a flock of fairies as they go head to head against a king, in their attempts to rid the kingdom on their use of fur clothing. The main stage production last 45 minutes and features many of the Teaching Zoo’s most exciting animals, such as a sea lion, red-crested turaco, primates and many other entertaining animals.
Guests will also have the opportunity to take a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the zoo (not normally open to visitors), watch shorter informative shows at “Eye to Eye,” see presentations at “Creature Feature” by guest organizations who will be bringing many of their animals including a few who have starred in television and movie productions and (of course), visit food and gift booths. Children will have a fun day visiting the “Kid’s Zone,” an area featuring face painting, crafts and games. There will be something for everyone at this year’s event!
