Event Description
Santa Paula Hospital will host Lynn Schwanauer, ILS Instructor for the Braille Institute for Maximize Your Vision workshop and speaking engagement. Schwanauer has been a teacher for the Braille Institute for nine years and has developed a course to teach reading to those with peripheral vision, which she currently teaches at numerous locations in Ventura County.
Her special area of interest is in serving those with age-related macular degeneration, and is knowledgeable about the frustration and challenges faced by those who suffer from it, such as visual hallucinations and social isolation. Additionally, she teaches practical help, like magnification, contrast, lighting, organization and eye nutrition.
Schwanauer is an enthusiastic advocate for those with vision problems and is dedicated to helping adults maintain independence due to lost vision.
