11th annual Great Backyard Bird Count
Sun, Feb 17, 2008 at 9:00am
Lake Los Carneros, Santa Barbara
Event Description
Santa Barbara Audubon Society will present a free Family Bird Walk at Lake Los Carneros for the 11th annual Great Backyard Bird Count. They look for waterfowl, winter songbirds, raptors, woodpeckers, and more, then tally results to report as part of the GBBC. They'll have feathers, bones, skulls, and more to see and touch. Open to all parents and children.
Directions: Take Hwy 101 to the Los Carneros off ramp. Head toward the mountains. Turn into the driveway alongside the Fire Station. We will meet in the Stow House parking lot behind the fire station.
Novice and experienced birders are invited to become citizen scientists and spend 15 minutes or more counting birds in their backyards, parks, schoolyards and local wildlife refuges. GBBC is a joint effort of the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
