Goleta Union School District Board Room, 401 N. Fairview Avenue, Goleta

Event Description

Goleta Valley Beautiful, Central Coast Urban Forest Council and California ReLeaf are offering a hands-on workshop taught by experienced Certified Arborists. Class members will participate in concise, practical session that will give working knowledge of correct pruning principles. Workshop leaders and Certified Arborists Dan Condon, Dougal House Jr., George Jimenez and Ken Knight will demonstrate techniques that professionals use to care for young public trees. All work is done from the ground level, no tree climbing is involved. Emphasis is on public shade trees, with some fruit tree pruning discussion. A take home open book exam at the end will demonstrate proficiency and ability. In the afternoon, participants will prune oak trees at the Optimist Grove in Lake Los Carneros Park as part of a supervised field
examination. Participants are expected to assist in future public pruning
projects.
