Event Description
UCSB presents Helen Callus, viola, and Robert Koenig, new Head of Collaborative Piano at UCSB, in "The Seasons of Life," a program featuring many works with references to months or seasons (Beethoven's 'Adagio' from the Spring Sonata and Tchaikovsky's 'Autumn' from The Seasons). The title also refers to the passage of life as in the Sonata by Dmitri Shostakovich, a poignant work written on his death bed. By contrast, the Sonata of Paul Hindemith was written with great romanticism at the start of his career as a concert violist.
