Roy Haynes started out a drummer for Lester Young, toured the world with Sarah Vaughan and Thelonious Monk and then was a member of Charlie Parker’s Quintet. And that was just the start of his career! Then there’s his work with John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Dizzy Gillespie... and a long list of other jazz greats. He’s a percussive powerhouse filled with unflagging energy and invention.
