Event Description
The Ventura College Galleries present an exhibit by husband and wife artists, Bob and Marjorie Moskowitz.
The exhibits run from September 4 through 28.
In Gallery 2, Bob Moskowitz, Chair of the Ventura College Art Department, painting exhibit entitled Survival and Denial.
Known for his revealing portrait work, his show will include some pieces depicting locals – including Ventura College photography instructor Martin Isaacson, shown here in Martin. Bob Moskowitz earned his Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Moskowitz joined the Ventura College faculty in 1998 and became department chair just a few years later.
In the New Media Gallery, Marjorie Moskowitz brings her painting exhibit Northern Latitudes.
Marjorie Moskowitz also received an M.F.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. The landscape paintings began as a result of a trip to Italy in 2000. They mark a re-awakening of her earlier pursuit of painting on canvas and paper and are a departure from the abstract sculptures previously shown on the East Coast and in the Mid-West. She has exhibited widely, including work shown in New York at the Alexander Carlson Gallery, Frank Marino Gallery, and the Nell Gifford Gallery. In Chicago, she showed at Fairweather-Hardin and in Kansas City at Douglas Drake. In St. Louis she was represented first by the Carol Shapiro Gallery, then by the B.Z. Wagman Gallery and later the Tom Seghi Gallery.
The Galleries are open Monday through Friday, from noon – 4 pm.
