Event Description

UCSB Arts and Lectures and Rubicon Theater Company present Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? directed by Jenny Sullivan and featuring Alison Brie, Karyl Lynn Burns, Jason Chanos and Emmy Award-winner Joe Spano.

Don’t miss the Santa Barbara debut of Ventura’s multi award-winning Rubicon Theatre – the recipient of 19 Backstage West Critic’s Picks, 16 Los Angeles Times Critic’s Picks and more than 50 Ovation Award-nominations – in Edward Albee’s great American classic. George, a disillusioned academic, and Martha, his caustic wife, unveil long-buried resentments as they turn their rapier-sharp wits against each other, using their naive houseguests as pawns in their verbal sparring. By night’s end, the secrets of both couples are uncovered and the lies they cling to are exposed. Considered by many to be Albee’s masterpiece, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? won both a Tony Award and Drama Critic’s Circle Award for Best Play.

*Cast subject to change.
