Event Description

Vita Art Center offers a Musical Instrument Construction V workshop in Clay Percussion Instruments for adults.


This workshop is designed for ceramic artists, it is not necessary to be a musician. We will learn how to make percussion instruments native to Mexico and used during pre-Columbian times. We will make; rattles, bells, rasps and skin drums of one and two membranes. The third session will focus on placing the raw hides on drums. . NOTE: Ceramists are asked to bring their own tools and clay. Ceramists are also responsible for firing their pieces; we do not provide a kiln. Hides for drums will be provided, fee included in price.
