Event Description

Vita Art Center offers a Mexican Art Series Workshop.

Learn about the art and symbolisms of one of the most colorful ethnic groups of Mexico, the Huichol Indians. We will be making and discussing “yarn mandalas”, ceremonial pictures made with colorful yarn on wooden boards. We will also make jícaras which are small bowls beaded with bees wax. Lastly we will create traditional Huichol magic objects known as; “Ojos de Dios” or God’s Eyes and healing sticks by using a method of wrapping yarn around sticks and hanging feathers. $25. material fee included in price.
