Event Description
The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents the Urban Funk Spectacular BREAK. There is an earlier performance in Santa Barbara.
BREAK! is a high energy tribute which traces the history of Hip Hop Dancing over the last thirty years. A combination of pure physical strength and agility propels this group of New York’s finest urban artists through a show of breathtaking movements to a pumping soundtrack with a live DJ and Master Percussionists. Cast members are supremely talented specialists from the world of breakdancing, locking, “electric boogaloo” or “popping,” and power tumbling, as well as DJ-ing and Bucket Drumming. The cast’s unorthodox creative movement demonstrate a distinctive American art form which finds its roots in the streets of the inner city. BREAK! Performers have all been featured as soloist dancers in worldwide performances with show business legends including Madonna, Puff Daddy, Janet Jackson, Ringo Star, B2K, Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross.
