Event Description

California Lutheran University presents James C. VanderKam, who will give lecture on the Dead Sea Scrolls.

James C. VanderKam, Ph.D., will speak about “The Dead Sea Scrolls and the First Christians”. He will address the similarities and differences between the contents of the Scrolls and the New Testament and other early Christian writings.

VanderKam, a professor of Hebrew Scriptures at the University of Notre Dame, is one of the leading international experts on the Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient Judaism and Early Christianity. He was a consulting editor for many of the volumes in “Discoveries in the Judaean Desert,” the official publication series of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The religious scholar is the chief editor of the Journal of Biblical Literature and has written or edited more than 25 books and 200 articles. His many popular books include “The Dead Sea Scrolls Today,” which has been translated into six languages.
