It’s been in use, and part of the Ventura County landscape for nearly two years, but today community leaders and officials officially celebrated the opening of a nearly $80 million dollar freeway interchange project.
The 101 Freeway Rice Avenue-Santa Clara Avenue interchange included rebuilding a bridge, adding lanes, and constructing new on and offramps.
The project in Oxnard also included the addition of sidewalks, bike lanes, and lighting.
The last touches were added during the last few months, with landscaping for the interchange.
A combination of federal, state, and local funding, along with contributions by property owners through an assessment district paid for the work.
