Heating, Cooling Unit Fire Blamed For Blaze Which Forced Evacuation Of Santa Barbara Hotel

A problem with a heating, and air conditioning unit started a rooftop fire which led to the evacuation of a Santa Barbara hotel this morning.

The fire was discovered at around 11:30. a.m., at the Hotel Indigo, on the 100 block of State Street.  People noticed smoke coming from the roof of the hotel.

About a dozen people were evacuated.

No one was hurt.  Santa Barbara firefighters had the situation under control in less then 15 minutes, containing the fire to the rooftop heating, and cooling unit.
