Central Coast Police Chief Announces Retirement Plans

Posted on Monday, August 11, 2014 12:36pm

A Central Coast police chief who’s been much more than just the top law enforcement officer for the city he serves has announced he’s going to retire.

Grover Beach Police Chief Jim Copsey says he’ll step down in December.

Copsey has been with Grover Beach for a decade, and has worked in law enforcement for close to three decades.  But, he’s also been a go-to guy for the city, serving as Acting City Manager for Grover Beach last year, when the City Manager was ill.  Last November, he was appointed Assistant City Manager.

Copsey says he wants to spend more time with his family.  The announcement no give the city time to search for a replacement.
