Central Coast Beach Closed Due To Shark Threat

A Santa Barbara County beach is closed to the public, after a sea lion was killed by a great white shark in the area.

The Air Force closed Wall Beach, which is on Vandenberg Air Force Base, through at least Friday.  Access to the beach is already limited, because you have to go onto the beach to reach it.

An adjacent beach, Surf Beach, was the scene of two fatal great white shark attacks during the last four years.  Surf Beach is already closed to the public for the rest of the summer to protect the breeding grounds of an endangered bird.
