A Santa Barbara congresswoman has co-authored legislation intended to improve the safety of student athletes.
The SAFE PLAY Act would require federal agencies to gather information on sports related fatalities, and serious injuries among public school students.
It would support the development of research of information on concussions, heat stroke, and the impacts of energy drinks on children, and teens. The end result would be the development of guidelines to improve safety for student athletes.
The legislation was co-authored by Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara.
