Posted on Friday, July 25, 2014 4:02pm

Ventura County has a new Court Commissioner.

Michelle Castillo has been appointed by County Superior Court judges to fill a commissioner vacancy.

She’s been a Deputy Public Defender with the county since 2005, and before that was a Deputy Public Defender in Fresno County.

She will take over her new post on August 4th.

Castillo fills the vacancy created by the governor appointing Rocky Baio to a opening on the county’s Superior Court bench.

Commissioners handle a number of types of cases ranging from issues like family law to small claims.
