State Coastal Commission Allows Rock Revetments To Remain In Port Hueneme, To Help Stem Erosion Crisis

Posted on Friday, July 11, 2014 12:33am

The State Coastal Commission has approved a plan to add insurance to efforts to control coastal erosion problems at a Ventura County Beach.

The commission will allow what were originally supposed to be temporary rock revetments in Port Hueneme to remain in place permanently, and to add to them on as needed basis.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports the community hopes that in addition to federal commitments to ship more sand to the coastline, to compensate for erosion, the revetments will help end an ongoing crisis.
