$10,000 Reward Being Offered In Connection With UC Santa Barbara Fire

Posted on Monday, July 7, 2014 12:46am

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for the arrest, and conviction of whoever was responsible for a fire which gutted a UC Santa Barbara housing complex under construction.

The blaze was discovered at around 3:30 a.m. last Friday, off of Storke Road and Whittier Drive.  The first Santa Barbara County firefighters on scene reported flames more than 60 feet high.  It took them more than an hour to control the inferno.

The fire gutted the three story complex under construction, as well as some adjacent construction offices.  No one was hurt.

UCSB Police aren’t releasing details about how the fire started, but say arson investigators are involved.
