Major Ventura County Water Supplier Calling For Stepped Up Conservation In Face Of Drought

Posted on Thursday, July 3, 2014 4:13pm

A supplier which serves two thirds of Ventura County’s water users has declared a Stage Three Water shortage, and is calling for customers to cut consumption by a minimum of 20%

The Calleguas Municipal Water District Board of Director passed a resolution last night calling for people to step up conservation efforts.

Calleguas supplies water to a number of Ventura County communities, but is dependent on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for its water.  The State Water Project is only delivering about 5% of its normal supply to the Metropolitan district, or other customers because of the drought.
