A school district in Ventura County is expected to make a decision tonight over whether it will permanently close one of its campuses.
The Simi Valley School District is set to look at the fate of Simi Elementary School.
After a safety inspection in January, a number of serious safety concerns were noted, resulting in the shutdown of the campus on an emergency basis.
The students, faculty, and staff finished up the school year at Mountain View Elementary School.
With the district operating a number of elementary schools at well below capacity, its school board is looking at whether it makes more sense for the cash-strapped campus to permanently close the campus, rather than spend millions on repairs.
The school board has waffled on the issue, at first voting to make repairs, then changing its mind, and voting to close it, and finally agreed to
re-examine the question.
