San Luis Obispo County Grand Jury Calls On County Health Agency To Make Restaurant Inspection Information More Readly Available

Posted on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 12:22am

A new San Luis Obispo County Grand Jury report is calling on the county to develop an easily visible restaurant rating system establishments would be required to use, to show how they are faring with their health inspections.

The report, called “Do You Know If Your Restaurant Makes The Grade,” says that while inspection results are posted online, they are hard to access.

It says the county’s Health Agency is committed to its food safety program, but is deficient in communicating the ratings information to consumers.

The Grand Jury is suggesting a visible ratings placard be used in all restaurants.  For instance, Los Angeles County uses letter grades displayed on placards so customers instantly know how the establishment is faring.
