Two Dead Following Plane Crash On Central Coast

Two people are dead following a light plane crash Saturday morning on the Central Coast.

A single engine Piper Cub crashed shortly after takeoff around 10 a.m. from a private airstrip on the 5100 block of Vineyard Drive in Templeton.

Witnesses told San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies that the plane took off, and banked to the right, and kept turning into it spiraled into the ground.  The pilot, and a passenger, who were both men, were pronounced dead at the scene.  Their names haven’t been released yet.

The National Transportation Safety Board, and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
