An inmate has died at a jail on the Central Coast, and there’s no indication yet as to whether it was from natural causes, or was suspicious in nature.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department reports that just before 6 a.m. Friday, inmates in a cell at the County Jail reported that one of their bunkmates was unresponsive. Deputies and medical staff determined that Timothy Richard Janowicz was dead.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The jail was placed on lockdown, but Sheriff’s Department officials aren’t saying why.
The 29 year old man had been arrested by Atascadero Police last November on charges of possessing a controlled substance for sale, carrying a concealed weapon, and violating his probation. He was due for release in November of 2015.
