What’s being called the first large scale marijuana raid of the season in Ventura County has turned out to be a big one, with the seizure of more than 50,000 plants, with an estimated street value of more than $200 million dollars.

Ventura County Sheriff’s narcotics investigators, working with other agencies seized the plans in a canyon about 10 miles north of Lake Piru.

They say it was a sophisticated operation, with an elaborate irrigation system, and a large supply of fertilizer.

They think six to eight people were involved in the operation, but they fled the scene before the raid occurred on Friday.
