Brush Fire Which Once Threatened Hundreds Of Homes In Santa Barbara County Now 90% Contained

Firefighters are now moving into the final mopup stage of a brush fire which at one point forced the evacuation of hundreds of homes in Santa Barbara County.

The Miguelito Fire, which started on the 2500 block of San Miguelito Road just outside of Lompoc Tuesday afternoon, is now 90% contained.  Santa Barbara County firefighters were able to successfully protect homes and business, and none were reported destroyed, or damaged.  At one point, more than 500 firefighters battled the blaze, but resources are now being downsized, with some released to help fight the fires in San Diego County.

The official figure for the amount of acreage burned has changed during the last few days, as firefighters have been able to assess the area.  The size now stands at 632 acres.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
