600 Acre Brushfire In Santa Barbara County Now 80% Contained

Posted on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 7:09pm

The brush fire which once threatened hundreds of homes on the Central Coast is now 80% contained.

The 600 acre Miguelito Fire forced the evacuation of about 200 homes in the Lompoc area Tuesday afternoon, and evening.  Santa Barbara County firefighters were able to protect homes and business, and none were destroyed, or damaged.

Despite more hot, dry weather today, the more than 500 firefighters battling the blaze made big progress towards fully controlling it.
