The nation’s largest cycling event is underway, and is headed towards the coast mid-week.
The Amgen Tour of California started in Sacramento yesterday, with a 120 mile course which is the longest of the eight day long event. Mark Kavendish won the the first stage by a tire rim, in what’s being called the closest victory in the race’s history.
On Wednesday, the cyclists will race from Monterey to Cambria. On Thursday, the tour will head from Pismo Beach, to Santa Barbara. Then, on Sunday, the entire tour will end with a circuit race in Thousand Oaks.
