America’s biggest cycling event gets underway this weekend, and that means some Central Coast communities are moving into high gear to get ready to host stages of the event.
The Amgen Tour Of California takes place May 11th-18th, and will feature 16 of the top cycling teams in the world. The competition starts on Sunday in Sacramento, and ends in Thousand Oaks on the 18th.
The fourth stage of the race, on Wednesday, takes riders from Monterey, to Cambria.
On Thursday, the fifth stage of the race runs from Pismo Beach to Santa Barbara.
The internationally televised event attracts more than a million spectators along its route.
