Ventura County firefighters say a 20 acre brush fire in the Santa Clara River bottom, outside of Ventura is now 70% contained.
Because the area is so rugged, it’s been difficult for firefighters to battle, especially after it burned into some eucalyptus trees. A Ventura County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, and a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter have been used to fight the fire, along with more than 70 firefighters on the ground.
No homes were threatened. Smoke from the fire was visible throughout much of Western Ventura County.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
