It was just two weeks ago when Isla Vista made national news, after it was the scene of a massive riot.

Now, it’s making some more positive news, after more than 75 students, and members of the community came together to help feed the hungry in Guatemala.

Members of the Tropicana student housing complex joined forces with members of UCSB’s Lacrosse, and Field Hockey teams, as well as volunteers to package 7500 meals filled with items like rice, and dehydrated vegetables.

The effort was coordinated by the international non-profit aid group Stop Hunger Now.
