Emergency Pumping System Being Added To Lake Cachuma To Keep Water Flowing As Lake Level Drops

The drought has dropped the water level of one of our region’s key water sources to its lowest levels in decades.

Now, besides the concerns about Lake Cachuma’s shrinking water supply, there’s another major issue.  The water level could soon drop below the level of the intakes which move the water from the Central, to the South Coast, in effect turning off the water spigot.

KCLU’S Lance Orozco reports the board which oversees Cachuma took emergency action this week to get a pumping system in place to keep the water flowing.
