A woman who struck, and killed the assistant principal of a Ventura School while he was out running has entered a guilty plea to a felony gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence charge.

The CHP says Shante Chappell was driving south on Victoria Avenue, near Olivas Park Drive April 6th when she swerved while trying to merge into a lane.

The 23 year old Oxnard woman hit Chris Prewitt, who was running by the side of the road, fatally injuring him.

He was Assistant Principal at the DeAnza Academy of Technology and the Arts in Ventura.

Chappell had originally pled not guilty.
