A Central Coast city which was sued over prayers at the start of its meetings has decided to end the practice of having an invocation.
The Pismo Beach City Council took the action in the wake of a lawsuit involving a group called the Freedom From Religion Foundation, as well as a member of a local atheist’s group.
The City Council also eliminated the City Chaplain’s post.
The city had the post since 2005.
It’s believed that the move by the city could result in a settlement of the lawsuit.
