Thousands of cruise ship passenger visited Santa Barbara today, after health officials decided that a norovirus outbreak on the ship had been contained, and didn’t pose a risk to the community.
The Crown Princess arrived in Santa Barbara around 7 a.m. for a day long visit. There are more than 3100 passengers on board.
Santa Barbara County Public Health officials were on hand as the ship arrived, and met with the ship’s doctor. Health Department Director, and Public Health Officer Takashi Wada said that the ship had done a good job of isolating the three dozen plus passengers who were impacted to prevent the spread of the gastrointestinal illness.
The ship is now heading to San Diego, and Ensenada, before returning to Los Angeles at the end of a seven day cruise on Saturday.
